Our Goal
To explore the paradox that is Austin's music industry:
how people move to Austin to experience the music culture, but in return raise the cost of living and push out the musicians that are the one's cultivating Austin's music scene.
Alyssa Frost
Hi there! My name is a Alyssa Frost. I’m a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin studying Journalism and Corporate Commucaiton, pursuing the Business Foundations Certificate through the Mccombs School of Business. I’m originally from a suburb of Dallas, Texas. In my free time you’ll find me singing and playing guitar, trying out one of Austin’s many eclectic and delicious restaurants, or exploring around the city. When I graduate, I hope to get a job in the communications field in Nashville working on projects, expanding my creativity, and maybe makin' a little music on the side.
Belicia Luevano
Hey, I'm Belicia Luevano (Bel works better) and currently a freshman studying Journalism at UT. I'm from a tiny town called La Pryor and since I moved here I've been soaking up the music scene. I work with 5 different programs on and off campus that all suprisingly involve music. I work on two TV shows, Local Live and Austin Underground, write for two online publications, ORANGE magazine and F&F Presents, and work for Headliners, a commitee that brings musicians and comedians to campus. 75% of my free time is spent at music venues, the other is at Kerbey Lane or Austin's Pizza. I love the music culture but don't have the talent to make music but I want to contribute to cultivating the scene after I graduate in 2018 in any way possible whether working a music journalist, work for a music festival or venue, or help bands focus on music by taking care of managing, booking, or publicity.

HANNAH SHIH
Hey, I'm Hannah Shih. I am a first year undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to a major in Journalism from the Moody School of Communication, I plan to attain a minor in Textiles and Apparel from the School of Human Ecology and the Business Foundations Certificate from the McCombs School of Business. Prior to attending UT, I lived in the heart of the Silicon Valley, in the suburbs of San Francisco. I have been spending my time in Texas frantically cramming for tests, exploring the city, attending live music events, and of course writing about the amazing city of Austin for class and for ORANGE magazine. After I graduate with my journalism degree, I plan on traveling around the world for a year, writing and taking photos everywhere I go. I also plan on going to law school. I would love to either have a career in fashion or tourism journalism or in law.

Hi, I'm Jenna Khakoo. I am a first-year Journalism major at the University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to Austin, I lived in a Houston suburb. Since starting college, I've been balancing my time between studying for classes and getting to explore this unique city. I enjoy live music, traveling and running. I'm currently writing for ORANGE magazine about, you guessed it, music. I plan on attending law school after graduating in 2018. I would like to pursue a career in law or journalism.

Hey! I'm Taylor Presley. I'm from a Dallas suburb by the name of Irving and am now in Austin as a first-year Journalism major at UT. I can usually be found reading, watching Friends, drinking coffee, eating pizza or hanging out with my friends. After graduation I hope to get a job either in Dallas or Austin in the publishing and editing field.
